AV Materials:
The Sword of Allah: The Rise of Islam by Chuck Missler. T 297.7. This is a 2 tape set with notes concerning one of the fastest growing religions on the planet, Islam. There are books about Islam in the library also. Inside Islam, Islam Revealed, and the Great Debate is for the VCR.
Celebrating the Feasts of the Lord: a Beth Moore Series. CD 296.46 Mo. There are 2 CDs in this set. They are Celebrating the Sabbath, Celebrating the Passover and Celebrating the First Fruits.
God’ Not Dead is a DVD starring Kevin Sorbo as an atheist philosophy college professor who challenger his Christian student, Josh, to defend his faith when he will not write “God is dead” on the first day of class. The presentation will be one-third of Josh’s total grade for the class. Who will decide if Josh passes? What happens between Josh and his girlfriend from high school? How does the presentation go? The library has the book God’s Not Dead which gives the evidence for the movie. Both call numbers are 239.
Mystery of the Holy Temple by Perry Stone. DVD 296.72 S. This two hour DVD covers thy holy mountain, secret chambers, furnishings and ministry. It also covers worship and music. Another DVD in the library by Stone is Breath of the Holies.
Unwrap the Bible-National Event by Women of Faith 2014. This is a DVD. Speakers are Christine Caine, Lisa Harper, Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer and Shelia Walsh.
Adult Fiction:
Safely Home by Randy Alcorn. Doug is a Christian and Ben is his seriously backslidden cousin who is vice-president of the company. One of them is sent to China and while he is there he contacts a friend from college. The book is placed in the fictional town of Pushan and is about the persecuted church in China. The author and inside-cover artist “designated all royalties to the persecuted church.” This book was donated by Jackie Duncan.
Winner Take All by T. Davis Bunn. This is a mix of spiritual conflict and legal suspense in an “international intrigue involving a missing child and an embattle father who will stop at nothing to get her back.” Attorney Marcus Glenwood lives in North Carolina and his 1-year old daughter has been kidnapped by his ex-wife, an opera diva. Author Alton Gansky says it “is a compelling, mind-grabbing read from the first paragraph.”
The Girl’s Still Got It: Take a Walk with Ruth and the God who rocked her World by Liz Curtis Higgs. Large print edition. Children’s Fiction
The Glassmakers of Gurven by Marlys Boddy. Call number E Bo. There is one extra window on the front of the church and each glassmaker wants to decorate it with his own special glass. As soon as the new church was completed and the glassmakers got to the church they started arguing about who would do the round window. The townspeople had enough of their arguing and the glassmakers were told to solve their problem. What was finally decided?
The Money Tree by Dave Hunt. Call number J F Hu. This is the story of Benjamin Bertram Balthaser McBean, a boy genius who invented a money tree. It did not turn out like he expected/
A Parable about the King by Beth Moore. Call number J F Mo. A young princess disobeys her father and runs away from home. She think it would be more fun to run and play like the peasant children. She has to decide if it is easier to be herself or someone else. At the end of the book is Mathew 25:34b – “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.”
Lamper’s Meadow by Barbra Minar is a youth fantasy book. Call number BF J Min. Andrew was doing a science experiment and he and his sister Sarah ended up in the King Lamper’s Meadow. They were called to wear the armor of light to fight against the evil Krad. This is an “allegory of the Christian life and the spiritual battles all believers must fight.”
All is Well: The Miracle of Christmas in July by Frank Peretti. Call number J F Pe. Daniel’s father had died. The rent was due and his mother wanted to attend nursing school. ‘All is well’ was one of his father’s favorite sayings but how where things going to work out now?
Pete & Pillar: The Big Rain by Jeffery Stoddard. Call number J F Sto. Pete and Pillar were best friends and worked side by side even though haulers (Pete) and diggers (Pillar) don’t talk to each other. When they are trying to save the village from a major thunderstorm Pillar looks up and Pete is gone! Pillar follows his friend’s tracks and finds him buried in mud trying to support the weakened dam. Will Pete survive? Who will help Pillar?
